Minimum Necessary Income (MNI)

Some family sponsorship programmes demand that the sponsor fulfil a certain income requirement to sustain themselves, their family, and any family members they wish to apply to sponsor. The Minimum Necessary Income is used by IRCC to determine a person's capacity to support their family members (MNI).

Federal Minimum Necessary Income for Sponsorship

Depending on the number of people in their household, sponsors must either meet or surpass the minimum income requirements wherever they reside in Canada, excluding Quebec.

Minimum Necessary Income (MNI)

The MNI, which is revised yearly, is applicable to all pertinent sponsorship programmes for sponsors who reside in Canada but outside of Quebec. For each of the following years, sponsors are required to present their Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency as proof that they have earned at least the required amount:
